Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Honestly, "children getting SRS" is such a fucking braindead take. You can't even get noncritical surgery until you're at least 18 in most countries. Puberty blockers are safe and effective, so is HRT.

Trans minors deserve medical treatment, because the alternative (living life in a body "ruined" by puberty) is much, much worse and carries a high suicide risk and also lifelong severe body image issues.

I don't want anyone to suffer the same fate. I don't want anyone to hate themselves for what their body is or became. I stand with trans kids and I'll gladly fight you on that, anytime. Fuck bigots 🖕

"She was helping MINORS to get access to HORMONES"

"waow"
{based based based based based}

Absolutely agree with that meme. I have nothing but the deepest respect for DIY HRT providers. They are literally heroes to me.
Not all heroes wear capes...some provide vials of concentrated E oil to the people in need ❤️

I so wanna start a DIY hormone lab, lol. Not for the money at all (I'd sell them dirt cheap), but for the experience (I like chemistry :3) and also...in my mind it's just doing the right thing. There aren't enough DIY sources anyway.
Miisha's Microbrewery of Mischievous 'Mones™, coming soon

Crimethinc has a recipe, but it may be too boring for you. It's meant mostly for ease of access and distribution

I wonder what it takes to make HRT from scratch... could be a really great thing to do for my fellow tgirls.

Great name idea, btw ^^

I wonder what it takes to make HRT from scratch…

I don't think much, honestly. Solvents, the actual chemicals (esters, probably powdered), oil, vials ofc...the biggest problem would probably be packaging and autoclaving (disinfecting with high temperatures and pressure, autoclaves are expensive af). Honestly, if you just sat me in a lab with all the necessary stuff, I'd probably be able to do it. I've never done it before, but I have a feeling that this really isn't that hard. Just mixing stuff at the right concentrations.

Great name idea, btw ^^

Thanks 🤣
Improvised but not bad!

tear them a new asshole then

It's incomprehensible that religious conservatives (or conservatives in general because, let's be real, none of them truly live by any religious tenets) care more about what's in people's pants, who people love, and making sure the number of unwanted babies keeps breaking records rather than actual, real, tangible help for anybody but themselves. They're absolutely the worst sacks of shit who have ever walked this planet (and that includes historical groups that view their place in the world the same as today's conservatives).

I wonder if anyone will eventually try doing the "diy" surgerys (orci/castration) at a school

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I...don't...think...so? That's usually not what they do at schools?
I've only ever heard of one case of a DIY orchi. It's sad that it has to come to that...I wish we got all the medical care we needed.

[–] jumping_redditor@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I've read about three, all in desperation and in highly homophobic countries

Yep, that makes sense unfortunately...
Fuck *phobic countries. It's 2026 ffs, let's focus on actual problems...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

I know people who've gotten opiates at school and people who've gotten tattoos at school, but this might be a bit much. Unless doing the rubber band method, in which case, why at school?

Meow you’re getting it.

Doing things is hard and it isn’t profit maxxing. Just telling some lies and fearmongering? That’s ezpz.

i love how puberty blockers are so safe that the labour fucks in government had to do a specific carve out just to ban trans kids from them while letting cis kids stay on them.

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Right? There's no other reason, it's just to fuck trans kids over

[–] cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 10 hours ago

that and because the venn diagram of paedophiles and gender critical terfs is a circle.

Need that meme where it's like

Conservatives:

Schoolkids getting a flu shot :(

Schoolkids getting a 9mm shot :)

[–] EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 8 hours ago

Here's my shitty 5 minute meme:

Well goddamn that's dark 😭
What's even darker is that it's true...

[–] cadmiumsandbox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

they definitely do something about the shooting. they make guns easier to get

if you would just give children guns too, they could defend themselves in case of a shooting!

(massive /s in fact)

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

As a European, the ease of getting guns is the US is mindboggling to me.

The first time I saw guns in a freaking Walmart I was like: "Mom! Dad! Look! Airsoft guns!" and when they told me...I was shocked, to say the least.

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

And then you're even from an area of europe the rest of us would consider in the "easy to get guns there" part.

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Exactly. And I honestly can't say I've ever seen a gun here...

[–] IntroSkeptic@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Remember that guy in Secret Little Haven who keeps trying to get Alex to go to the shooting range?

Not kidding I've lived exactly that. I caved though because in my case this guy... Well its complicated, he's weird but a good friend. I've shot more different guns in the last year and a half than I've seen across most of my life. ;-;

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

JESUS
Well...shooting isn't bad, per say, is is? Did you enjoy yourself?
I've never shot a gun, lol

[–] IntroSkeptic@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Aside from being surrounded by conservatives who have 0 tact, being autistic and needing to wear earmuffs... Of which the only ones were branded with conservative symbology, it was alright. Fun enough for sure. Grateful I didn't have to pay for anything at all too, so now I've just got shooting experience and if I ever need to use one I now know how to use a variety.

[–] HornyQueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

That's neat then! If I ever find myself in danger, I'll trust you to shoot all the *phobes :3
I trust you, sis 🩷

as someone in the third world, where US calls us terrorists. it boggles me that in US anyone can buy a gun with their groceries
