That is certainly a banner one can have.

Norman Rockwell would be A Ok with this were here still alive, I am sure of it.

He would put this one with his paintings that never saw the light of day, like "Turn Your Head and Cough".

Sounds like a 9th grade English paper.

And just like that, Usher is in my head.

On the one hand, ick, there's writing your own history and then there's writing your own history. On the other hand, though, she did fleece a lot of very rich, powerful people out of a lot of money.

Do you think that number is accurate? No way, right? 3 letters a day just to one household? What even is the reason to lie like that?

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

People like her can't help it. They need to lie to shape their world and make a bubble of reality because deep down they know they're never going to be enough. They share the lies to ensure those gullible enough to join their bubbles. Some people like Musk will fool enough people to actually obtain power in the real world.

What even is the reason to lie like that?

It’s probably compulsive. Just part of her pathology.

[–] degen@midwest.social 5 points 1 week ago

Nah, if she wanted to exaggerate things she could use page or word count or something. The numbers are just math in a very coldly-calculated use of her family to make you feel bad about how long it is.

There’s an awful lot of down time when you do a stretch…

Unless you're Talkien chatting about LotR, I really don't know what one can possibly talk about this often on a letter. I'd get anxiety with letters pouring through the mailbox each day.

She's a compulsive liar. Kind of what got her into prison in the first place.

[–] Stolas@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

she did fleece a lot of very rich, powerful people out of a lot of money.

I'm all for hurting the wealthy, but she hurt so many regular lower class people with the faulty diagnoses she provided too.

They said in the You Can See Everything documentary that this X account is actually operated by her boyfriend who is controlling to the point of demanding power of attorney over her.

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’ve been in a situation where I did have to give power of attorney to my then (long term) boyfriend because I was very very critically sick. The laws around POA are very strict in the sense that even if you did sign it over it wouldn’t be honored if you were competent to make your own choices. POA also expired pretty quickly when a person is conscious, like if you’re in a coma long term or something the POA will just by default be honored but beyond that it has very little power, it’s constantly reassessed and even if it is signed over while you are competent judges will consider it moot and allow the competent person to exercise their own rights. If he does want this he clearly doesn’t understand what for or when the law considers it appropriate, even if she did sign it over to him it wouldn’t make any difference, it wouldn’t be honored.

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I believe you, but you cant always trust things will work out as intended. See: brittany spears (assuming i understand correctly and its not something different than poa i dont know about)

[–] laere@quokk.au 2 points 8 hours ago

Britney was under conservatorship, I don't know the details of either, but that seems a lot more involved than power of attorney.

She invented numerous lies to try and stay in business!

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

Equally insane lol

I have no idea who this is and must assume I should be grateful looking at the comments.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago (4 children)

She created a blatantly fake med tech company that claimed to be able to do all labs with a single drop of blood. She leveraged being a woman in tech with some fraudulent demos to get massive amounts of investments. Eventually a whistle blower came out, and trials started for all the fraud. She got less prison time than her co founder.

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

The AI companies basically learned from her grift to get funding

[–] Jiral@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Back when daring tech startup fraud was still landing you in prison. Nowadays it makes you a billionaire.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

It really depends. This was Madoff level fraud of ripping off rich people. That pretty much always ends with jail or death.

[–] Technoworcester@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

Well. She seems like a barrel of laughs.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] mofongo@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 week ago

There's also a ten year old HBO documentary, but don't know how it compares to the movie.

“Mostly my words, posted by others”

Turns out that it’s her husband running that account, and somehow, that dude is even more batshit crazy than Elizabeth is.

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

you have to be crazy to love a crazy person.
