Beats the ever-loving fuck out of whatever the fuck he's doing now.

[–] DonJefe@lemmy.world 22 points 23 hours ago

He'll always be Mr. Pedo to me

[–] orenj@leminal.space 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope he instead becomes 'Mr. Kill Myself'

Just imagine if he did nothing the last two years, but just coasted along, letting Biden's work continue.

Things would have been fine.

There is no end goal for this people but more money and more power. They are the embodiment of capitalism, there is no victory condition, there is no "enough". It's more more more more more forever, at any and all cost.

Like, a serial killer won't ever be like "ok I'm gonna kill ten people and I'm currently at eight, so just two more murders and I'm done! Gonna be so nice when it's over, I can just relax, pick up gardening..."

Right, but that wasn't the 2025 plan, they told everyone what they were going to do and too much of the damage has been done. It takes longer and harder to rebuild it if Dems win president and enough majority in 28, but not counting on it unfortunately. I'd love to be wrong and they do make real progress if they win, but I'm way ahead and coming back to present moment, peace.

Veto away, Krasnov. By all means, please make Republicans look like incompetent fools for the next 2 years so we can sweep in 2028 too. After that, maybe finally we can get some shit done and prosecute the fascists (if the corporate masters are willing to indulge us, of course).

[–] immutable@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Let’s just check in on if the 2020 sweep into power let the democrats get some shit done and prosecute the fascists… aw shucks.

I’ll still vote for the Dems since fptp makes it the best option, but until we get a leftist yea party insurgency I expect them to dance for the corporate masters.

[–] Gpennyhigh@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

They did pass some bills, but not enough but didn't have enough majority and had to use a way to not need 2/3 to pass in senate, so we need enough majority to pass w/o tricks and not blame them for not enough majority and not able to pass what the majority of people want on several issues.

[–] immutable@lemmy.zip 0 points 8 hours ago

My entire life I have heard this.

Republicans come in with the slimmest majority and use every avenue to get their agenda passed.

Democrats come in with similar or better majorities and, shucks would you look at that, theres always a just enough turncoats to keep them from doing anything. Or maybe they could technically achieve their agenda through a reconciliation bill but tradition and custom are more important.

The sergeant at arms could actually enforce the subpoena by arresting people, but the congress hasn’t done that in over a century and certainly won’t do it now.

Seating that judge, well the senate has a long standing gentleman’s agreement that both senators from the state with the courthouse get a pocket veto and one of the republicans is using it.

Republicans come in and squeeze every iota of advantage past reason. Democrats play to the rules, then if they could still get something done play to an even stricter set of rules, then compromise for no reward.

And then I’m supposed to hear how they really really wanted to do good stuff but gee golly, once they got power they just couldn’t figure out how.

You’ll always be Mr. Pedo to me.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd rather good laws be vetoed than bad laws be enacted

[–] III@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Best Republicans can do, veto good laws, letting only bad ones be enacted.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

[Biden's term] mcconnell: "We're going to block any meaningful legislation just to make him look bad"

[orange pedo's 2nd term]the orange pedo: "if I don't get my way I'll veto everything the Dems try to pass"

And which one claims to be the party for Americans again?

[–] saigot@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 hours ago

"Don't worry nothing bad will happen if the other guy wins" seems like a strange campaign strategy

18 U.S. Code § 594 - Intimidation of voters

[–] psycholocomotor_no2@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

He's above the law, lol. You think this'll be the thing that gets him in trouble? I'm sure he commits a crime like this every single day. The legal system just doesn't apply to 99% of rich people.

It's still good to point it out.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

The only time it does is when the crime they commit is against other rich people.

He might turn into "Mr. Impeached" rather quickly.

[–] TehWorld@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

He's already been impeached. Twice. It takes too many members of congress to actually remove him though.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

the VetoPedo [tm]

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is literally just threatening to do the thing that everyone already knew he was going to do.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Also, frankly, what a lot of presidents pretty much do.

I guess the biggest problem is that usually stops short of the budget/debt ceiling bills, so if he sticks to his guns of 'veto no matter what', hard to see how budget bills can work anymore.

Two years of a lame duck presidency would be a breath of fresh air after the last two.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 63 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would be very funny to see the 2027 Congress pushing the bipartian "Infinity Money for Israel Act" which Trump vetos out of spite.

But like so much else with The Don, it's gonna be TACO Tuesday every time he suffers a marginal amount of pressure.

Believe it or not, that's the ideal outcome short of impeachment.

The economy is fucked, and we have proof his government has been lying about the numbers. An obstructionist Trump lets Dems continue to rightly blame him for it, and Republicans with any luck take it on the chin again in 2028.

[–] Hawanja@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Agree 100%. It's better for the world if Trump and congress are at a stalemate than if Trump is allowed to continue to run rampant

Mr Veto isn't even in the Top 5, which are Traitor, Pedo, Criminal, Stoopid, and Virtuosically Incompetent.

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 109 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sore loser who cares more about his ego than the american people.

It'd be pretty cool if the Democratic Party had fewer Republicans in it. I suspect this Haley Stevens revelation today is but a visible pimple with a several-pound, teeth-and hair-laden conjoined twin lurking underneath. If true, expect more of the same from the orange scrotum.

[–] D_Tom@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Is this what finally keeps him in the office and off the links?

He technically has that power. And if the midterms don't go his way Congress has the power to refuse to do anything he does want. He's not patient enough to play that game without doing something that might make even Senate GOP turn on him. But not until after 12:01PM Jan 20, 2027, that way it doesn't count as a Vance term.

[–] DonJefe@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

More like he'll become Mr. Lame Duck and be investigated into oblivion

And if they do go his way he'll rubber stamp legislation that people who dislike him won't support. Pretty weak threat!
