If Sam believes that, will he replace himself with AI and retire already? Pretty please? ... It's so easy to catch the ultra-rich in their lies; they simply can't be bothered to speak believably.

‘Artificial Intelligence’ is, and always has been since the term was conjured in 1956, a marketing term for a pseudoscience.

Anyone who is impressed by the function, or output, of a LLM, to the level they believe it is in any way adjacent to intelligence, must be quarantined from the decision making processes of systems which affect anyone not similarly cognitively impaired.

So we should make them a CEO of a technology firm?

This is an insult to schizophrenics, they build temples not steal ram

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

the original meme was actually funnier because there was nothing there.

The era of "Trump says" over, finally?

Are we in "Altman says" for the next five years?

[–] Hi_ImAmber@piefed.ca 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'll grant that AI is smarter than Sam Altman, that's for sure.

I've gone beyond wanting to shut AI down, to wanting to shut down this idiot. He has surely done something worthy of jail time.

"Please investor bros. Give us more of your investment money bros. It looks like it's in the process of collapsing but it's just about to pay off bros."

Sam Altman telling everyone to come on board of a sinking ship while trying to bail out the water with a thimble.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

He’s said this every year for 3 years straight.

“Like a phd in your pocket” followed by completely wrong graphs in the presentation and website.

They are, but at the same time they are not at all

[–] kat_angstrom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Now, lately. Specifically? Recently. Totally particularly, it happened on a certain date.

Much wow

[–] berno@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

fuck spez

fuck sam altman

[–] joeschmoe@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes, the "AIs" that are still basically glorified text prediction are definitely "smarter".

Maybe in some sense like how maybe a zip file with all published peer-reviewed papers over the last couple years technically contains more knowledge than a random scientist...

But smarter? Frontier models aren't even smarter than me, and I'm an idiot

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

yeah, my thought was it's like saying libraries know more than people.

[–] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 5 points 2 days ago

How would one even measure this quantitatively?

Empty words from a man who doesn't even seem to understand his own product.

[–] DGen@piefed.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Did ChatGPT tell him?

This is getting more ridiculous day by day..

[–] CountVlad47@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

If AI is so smart then maybe companies can cut costs by replacing their CEOs with AI. I disagree with people being replaced by AI, but it would be pretty funny if OpenAI's board of directors took Sam Altman's bragging seriously and fired him.

[–] fritobugger2017@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Proper headline for anytime Altman and Musk make some statement: "Sociopath with too much money makes ridiculous claim."
