BonziBuddy was a thing just before the dotcom bubble burst. Just saying.

They even look the similar.

Preachin' to the choir over here.

I avoid it all as much as I can.

What’s insane to me, is how people keep agreeing to the surveillance madness and we have reached this level at all.

Because nothing bad happened to them.... Yet.

Nothing bad happened the first time the clicked accept on the EULA without reading it. Nor on the 2nd, or 10th or 100th and so they become desensitised to giving up rights and nothing bad happens... Until the nth time.

it did happen. they just didn't see it happen.

Meta spent years demonstrating what happens when you trust it with personal data. Now it wants your email, password vault and bank login too. Calling that an AI assistant doesn’t make it less absurd.

Google over there wanting selfies and your street address.

No, I think an email and a password is about as far as you're going to get.

Come on, tell Mr Handpuppet all your dark secrets and logins

insurance should stop covering people who trust meta

But look how cute that avatar looks like. It couldn't do anything bad, look at it ...

No seriously, dressing it up as something happy and cute was an evil genious decision.

I dunno how genius it was. It seems pretty obvious to me. Definitely evil, but let's not give them too much credit.

Well, they are the first AI business that are doing it as prominently, aren't they? So if it is obviously why is that so? I don't want to give them too much credit for it either but it is certainly a clever strategy.

Anyone who touches this even with a ten foot pole deserves any and all consequences. In 2026 there's no excuses left.

I hope people don't actually give this thing agency while it's in its infancy

Okay but have you considered the fun and non-offensive corporate Memphis monster branding?

I mean, look at that thing! It’s practically begging to have your back password, as a treat!

At the very least let your preteen interact with it and share photos, details about their vacations, and names of their friends with this cuddly guy!
