The X comments - particularly the absolute deluge of maga folks completely missing the joke and accusing him of ripping off Trump's merchandise - is absolutely the best part of this whole thing.

MAGA isn't bringing their finest.
The absolute nothing coming out of the Democrats in power is so deafening that even such a troll from such an imperfect candidate feels like the straw at which we must grab.
You bet a boatload of people are waiting for Newsom to get away with it to start resisting themselves.
I sense that Newsom's trolling sends the message that Trump's not anyone special. The felon's only unique ability is to lie and boast without a single ounce of humility.
When he puts out this stuff sarcastically, it immediately makes all of Trump's antics almost identically as corny as Newsom's satirical versions.

The DNC does not like Mamdami and are trying just as hard to get rid of him.
MAGA isn't Mamdami's problem. MAGA isn't going to win a NYC election. But oligarchs paying the best ad people and manipulators and using outright lies through dark money PACs to pretend the best way to oppose MAGA is "reasonable" centrism have the resources and savvy to make things hard. And establishment Democrats being unable to decide between the party nominee and a disgraced governor courting Trump isn't helping.
Newsom is capable of stunts, but what's he actually doing that helps anyone but corporations?
