And I’m gonna go ahead and give you a news headline from either next month or from December: “Military illegally deployed to American cities as fears of a second civil war mount”.

[–] Inaminate_Carbon_Rod@lemmy.world 39 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The DNC has written a sternly worded letter in response.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Susan Collins is going to express deep concern about it... and that's it.

[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And vote to increase funding for it.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

And get reelected because we can’t have the anyone less than 80 in the senate.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What are you talking about, I’ll bet her brow furrows harder than ever. Thats a true consequence in these united states if I’ve ever heard one.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Hey whoa I'm trying to be realistic. No need to get so graphic.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 15 points 10 months ago

And a couple months after that "No Kings 3 protest planned"

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

“The US military is shooting civilians that don’t agree with the president. Is this the first step toward fascism?”

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 71 points 10 months ago (8 children)

He's gonna end up like Mussolini lol

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 38 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] kerobaros@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm hoping for the Ceausescu treatment, honestly

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 15 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I really really hope for a Hitler style ending.

Feeling the enemies close in as all your plans so far simply evaporated, surrounded, no way out, except for biting onto the barrel of a gun...

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 34 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Too "on his own terms" for my liking.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 4 points 10 months ago

Agreed.

I’d love to see him deported to one of these awful prisons they’ve been sending people to die at.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 3 points 10 months ago

Is it though?

The options at that point are: the coward's way out, or taking responsibility while seeing everything you "built", be destroyed.

it's not really "on his own terms", is it?

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

addy also took a good chunk of his cabinet and cronies with him over the years.

But the problem with that is the sheer amount of violence required to get that point. I am... not that optimistic that we have a peaceful transition of power. But I would still rather not a full blown fourth reich along the way.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

We're really being squeezed into a bad spot where there are no good options. Do nothing, and the dictatorship continues to kill thousands or millions. Fight back, and many will end up dead on both sides. Those 2A "no step on snek" folks sure are quiet...

By the way, this has been Stephen Miller's plan all along, which is also why they're stopping SNAP, so they can further provoke a starving population into violence and use it as a pretense to deploy full-force military into blue cities.

Then they would further suppress any opposition by claiming terrorists (already at this step, but they would increase it even more), and bam suddenly we'd be in a Putin-esque hellscape.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah. I am deeply terrified of what happens next week (let alone as we get closer to thanksgiving travel and the like) when SNAP et al shut down. People are going to be hungry and people are already VERY armed. And the most impulsively violent crowd tends to be the ones who actually believe "its the democrats behind the shutdown" and... yeah.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's obvious but I didn't even consider the starving poor MAGA folks will think they aren't being fed because of Democrats, and then go after them. Ya know because they are generally more violent and deeply angry in their cores.

[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

But of course, they'll be reported in the news as "violent 'anteefa' extremists", despite their beat-up lifted truck sporting "Trump 2028" bumper stickers and confederate flags.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Excellent gif choice.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

One can dream

[–] Xaphanos@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yes, and it'll be a shame that future generations won't get the chance to defile his remains repeatedly.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

I kind of like the idea of using trees as headstones.

In trump's case, we can strap one of these to it.

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I'm more a fan of bringing back an execution method fit for a king.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Can we just... not? I don't want to fight any wars over this buffoon. Now Stephen Miller I feel differently about, but once you get rid of the root of the problem (propaganda from Fox, Newsmax, OAN, TPUSA) everything else will fall into line.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

The root of the problem goes back further: we never finished the job of Reconstruction. Most of them will die of old age before changing.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 months ago

From your lips to gods ear

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

At least we can use that dumb Arc de Trump plaza for something....

[–] Damage@feddit.it 25 points 10 months ago

Yeah unchecked power without anyone restraining it tends to end up like that

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I kinda hope he orders the Navy into Minneapolis. That'd be hillarious.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

City of lakes and all, they'll send in the canoe division

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The new aircraft carrier that’s decked out in gold- USS Trump. But it’ll be doing an evergrande impression before it ever gets into the state.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'd rather see it do an Edmund Fitzgerald

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

it'd have to reach the great lakes first.

It'll still sink when they try to pull it out, though.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago

Stroke out already rapist pedophile syphilitic diaper boy

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Where’s all the he didn’t mean it fuckers at?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Still all over the place and still claiming it's all just 'owning the libs'.

Just yesterday I heard a republican congressman saying "He's just trolling the democrats".

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Navy's gonna have to battle the Crimson Permanent Assurance company.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago

It's all tax deductible

We're fairly incorruptible

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

OOOO I've always wanted to use thermite on a navy boat!

I've been super curious how much thermite would be required to punch a hole from the deck through the hull.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 2 points 10 months ago

Why wait, start now!
