Where do you get this "30 billion in corporate welfare" figure from? Is that money that is taken from the provincial budget and given to corporations, or is that tax breaks? Big difference.

Do you know how those "subsidies" actually work. They dont GIVE money to oil and gas companies, they give them breaks on their own taxes and royalties. There is no big pot of money that is scooped out to give to O and G that could be given to teachers instead. In return the O and G not only keeps Alberta's economy afloat, it also is a major source of money for the rest of Canada's budget. It also provides a huge number of AB's population with very good paying jobs which means those people are all paying significant income tax which IS what pays the teacher's salaries.

You're framing this like its mostly a salary issue. Their pay is the lesser part of their complaints. They want a raise yes, but that's not the bigger issue: its about the increasingly complex challenges in the classroom. Even if they got a big raise those complexities would still exist and THAT is what makes the job hard to do. And that's the part that's not an "simple" fix.

I saw some of the clips (cause I havent sailed the high seas in awhile) but what I saw was in the category of "holy shit, I cant believe they did that" in their mockery of Trump. I mean its one thing to insinuate President Small Hands is, uh, tiny where it matters, but a very realistic looking Dirty Don with his miniature manhood was hilariously over the edge. Incredibly brave considering Mr. Micro loves to sue anyone or everyone who offends his overblown ego, but I think the boys know that in the court of public opinion a suit against a very popular comedy team isn't going to go well for Donnie.

Between this episode and Powell cutting him off at the knees in a live interview, the Orange Turd hasn't had a very good week. I dont think even the lovely Ms Leavitt can save his ass this time.

So maybe you believed that he was going to annex Canada but anyone who has watched this moron for more than a month knows that he'll say anything to get attention, and almost all of it is lies and made up bullshit. The only 'strategy' that Carney needs to implement is to wait for him to self destruct and then deal with the hopefully more rational leader that succeeds him.

Of course. But it was Carney who played it up as an 'existential threat' to Canada. Its not. Donnie is a full of shit narcissist blowhard and he fails at everything he touches. But the Liberal strategy was to give Donnie's pathetic weazing as much oxygen as possible, keep people scared, make sure that our economic life depended on someone handling the 'threat' and of course, who better than an international banker. Up til Carney put the spotlight on Donnie Dumpster, most Canadians were focussing on stuff that actually affects their lives like grocery prices, inflation, high housing costs, the increase in crime, the increase in drug use and the flood of TFWs. And THOSE are the things that are still affecting our lives, not the tariffs. But we took the bait and voted for the 'tariff' guy and ignored the guy who's been talking about the more important issues the whole time.

The same Donald Trump that has failed at almost EVERYTHING he has attempted since he won the election, the Donald thats now so embroiled in his Epstein controversy that he may not survive the midterms? And voters fell for that fear factor, hook line and sinker. Im not saying Carney's not doing a decent job so far, but the 'Donald threat' was definitely overblown.
