The fact that you seriously think that people were not paid in the USSR is extremely silly.

You are keep implying that the vast majority of people lived better in the Russian Empire, and that praising the Russian Empire this way is somehow not edgy.

Not the person whom you asked, but

Who are you to define “meaningful”?

To get a good view on the matter, it would require having worked and having gone through a process of getting new housing both before Gorbachyov and after the fall of the USSR. Something tells me that people who earn, say, 30 000 or so rubles (or an analogous sum) per month today were in a much better spot back before Gorbachyov.

The experiences of my family (in the USSR) were not as you describe. Things were cheap and necessities were available. Getting some things was more difficult for non-price reasons. That also seems to align with studies like what the CIA conducted about access to nutrition in the USSR.

Overall, that was a significant improvement over what came before, as well as over what came after.

The labels should be swapped.
It is overwhelmingly the western 12 year-olds that complain about praise for communism/communist revolutions.

Also, let's not pretend as if Eastern Europeans were oppressed by the Warsaw Pact, unlike how NATO treats the vast majority of the world.

By stamping out Prague spring

Suppressing NATO-backed nazis is not a bad thing, contrary to what you claim.

Weight is a force.
What did you think it was, and what did you think it was measured in?

Also, ironic to complain about social sciences not being sciences while also failing at basic physics.

Also, you are mixing up measures and units of measurement.

NATO had been pushing for war with Russia for a while. It finally got it.

So yeah, either of the recent blue governments can be said to have started the war.

[–] Tomorrow_Farewell@lemmy.ml 13 points 6 hours ago

In my entire lifetime, only republicans have started wars

Are you less than two years old? Did you already forget that the most recent blue government invaded Yemen and prepared to invade Iran?

Democrats are, for the most part, pro union.

Is this a joke?

RvW was overturned under the USian dem government, after decades of promising to codify it, and at a time when all of the relevant judges could have just been replaced.

"Call them out" on what? That person said that 200€ is 5% of 760€ with a straight face.
