Why not? North Carolina Democrats are far more conservative than Democrats from most other states, so the idea of them voting for Trump while also voting for a Democrat superintendent isn't that surprising. That superintendent would probably be a Republican in other states, while Trump had far more appeal to those conservative Democrats than a black woman from California.
The data also doesn't look more "chaotic" in 2016 than 2024, it just has a different trend that was felt across the entire state. The Democrats even lost ground in blue states in 2024, with almost the entire country showing very similar trends of Democrats losing big. The Republicans didn't need to cheat; they beat the Democrats fair and square.
Going forward, there will be a ton more election meddling and actual stolen elections than before, so it's very frustrating when people cry wolf about an election they should take genuine lessons from.
