One more thing: in order to make it work for you, you really have to dig through the manyfold settings and somehow make yourself understand how channels and all that stuff works. Best would be if you had somebody who explained it to you.

but it is not cleanly threaded like lemmy or piefed. a developer said they will improve this a bit in the next version , but certainly not to the level of threadiverse.
Anyway they have all kinds of technical fancy stuff regarding groups, hashtags, saved searches and whatever.
Now I figured out by systematic trying how to make sure that Facebook actually shows the post with images, and not only the link. I tried it with pixelfed. It worked 2 times when I pasted the link into a new post in the web app of Facebook, but it did not work when I posted the same link from the android app. Weird, but manageable.:) Example where it works: https://www.facebook.com/774580511/posts/10175467680010512/ edit 27.09.26: just tried it again. Finally it worked, after pacing it in Chrome on Android into the Facebook website. Making it in Facebook app did not work. but strange: it did not work several times before in browser. It seems like it does not work when the link does not end with the question mark and then some whatever afterwards. Doesn't really make sense and I don't know if it's really reproducible. I will keep updating here until I have a final result.
My chosen, tender way to motivate non tech people to leave big Tech platforms for the fediverse is to post sth nice (nice pics, family info,...) on Friendica, Pixelfed or Lemmy, and then paste the link on Facebook, so that my Facebook friends see it, like what they see, get curious what's that strange platform they had never heard of, register.
Problem 1: Sometimes FB shows the linked posts picture, sometimes it doesn't. Problem 2: Some instances deactivate that content can be shown by external platforms like FB.
So far I did it three times; 1 (my friendica instance) didn't show the pic though. So far, the success count is still on 0. But I still hope it will work :)
Now I do see Matthias post from friendica also here on Lemmy. Also, now I see on lemmy this post that I'm replying to and that I made myself on friendica.
I still do not see on friendica the direct reply to OP that I had made on Lemmy. On friendica, I see only three direct replies to the original post. Significantly less than here on Lemmy.
I wonder : it should work and display in both directions, I guess? How is this cross platform viewing and replying correctly called in fediverse?
