For anybody wondering:

Yes and Christie Mack.

Not so funfact: i believe her boyfriend was the guy who punched himself over tcp/ip. Not fun because he punched her too on a different occasion.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 112 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (6 children)

Yeah, he punched her. Among other things.

Mack began a relationship with mixed martial artist War Machine (born Jonathan Koppenhaver) in 2013. She says Koppenhaver became physically abusive toward her a few months later. The relationship ended sometime before August 2014, when Mack and her then-boyfriend Corey Thomas were assaulted by Koppenhaver in her Las Vegas home. Mack sustained eighteen broken bones, a broken nose, missing teeth, a fractured rib, a ruptured liver, and a thigh bruise that made her unable to walk for a week. Mack says Koppenhaver also attempted to rape her at knifepoint, but was unable to maintain an erection. Koppenhaver was later found guilty of sexual assault and kidnapping and sentenced to life in prison with a possibility of parole after thirty-six years.

Wow, surprised trump didn't pardon him and put him in change of DHS.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Combat sports athletes and being an abuser/rapist. Name a more iconic duo.

No seriously, it seems damn near every top dog in that industry has a history of, at minimum, credible rape and abuse allegations. Almost seems like a requirement.

Probably explains why the majority of them are MAGA too. Rapists love other rapists.

Yeah it turns out a job that starts by picking for people too violent for football and gives cte is going to have horrendous participants

[–] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 64 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I remember that. At the time, I was dating a girl who was a bit obsessed with Christy Mack, so she was pretty shook up. Of course, I responded "Some guy called War Machine is a massive asshole? I am SHOCKED." Apparently that was not the right answer.

[–] xkbx@startrek.website 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some guy called Lord Smegma used humour at an inappropriate time? I am smegged

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

He's a smeee...a smeee...a SMEEEEG HEEEEEEEAD

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fighting sports and CTE addled domestic abusers, name a more iconic combo.

Cops and racism

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

that is a draconian punishment for an obscene crime. i'm not saying it doesn't fit, but damn. only times i see judges give sentences beyond 20 is when the defendant goes out of their way to piss off the judge.

just committing this crime is enough to piss me off, which is reason alpha i don't have the temperament to be a judge, but the extreme sentence gives me the feeling perpetrator must have been intransigent, incorrigible, showed no recognizance or remorse, stuff like that throughout the entire trial. Had a lawyer who repeatedly (to the point it appeared intentional) ignored court rules and procedures. represented himself. sovcit bullshit. stuff like that.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No

He called himself "war machine" and was the exact type of loser that you imagine he is.

She broke up with him because of his violence, she started dating, the guy got in het house, best up het date and then beat her to an inch of her life. Had she not escaped, she would have been dead

Friend of mine is a friend of her and he testified in her court case against that human shit stain, so I had some more interest in it

Most people have the weird "she is a porn actress so she had it coming" thing, i just think that violence is never okay, no matter who the victim is.

Most people have the weird “she is a porn actress so she had it coming” thing, i just think that violence is never okay, no matter who the victim is.

Jeez, like everyone watches porn ... they really feel like they're not human don't they? people can be terrible

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

A lot of people see those they interact with sexually as lesser for it, especially if they're ashamed of being attracted to such people. Sex workers in particular get it really bad because a lot of people are ashamed of using porn or paying for sex. But you see the same in people who fetishize fat folks and trans folks for example and it's a huge thing with racial fetishes too.

This is at its extreme with people engaging in violence towards such people, but a lot of folks are really uncomfortable with the idea that they may be waiting in line at a grocery store behind a prostitute or the idea that a porn star may want to get involved in the pta because they care about their child's education. Sex workers' entire existence is reframed through the lens of their job, and their job is given the moral weight of these people's discomfort with sex that they don't approve of.

I need answers. What is the tcp/ip part? Like are we talking Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol?Punching oneself seems like a crazy concept to begin with, but adding the tcp/ip is very confusing. "Over tcp/ip" as in "because of it"? Or are we speaking cardinal directions - he was physically above something running tcp/ip? Or is it "over tcp/ip" as in that he broadcasted it?

[–] LOLseas@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

I think most are confused by your stateless "tcp/ip" bit.

I won't C myself OUT.

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How did he punch himself over the internet? I can only imagine a boxing glove with an API.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

Yeah, I’m confused as well

[–] CallMeButtLove@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Wait what... punched himself over tcp/ip? Like... because of?

[–] vodka@feddit.org 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I too am so confused what tcp/ip has to do with this

[–] PlexSheep@infosec.pub 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Maybe it's a layer 8 problem

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Over as in above. He suspended himself from the ceiling à la Mission Impossible, hovered over a desk with tcp/ip on it, and punched himself.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

How do you put TCP/IP on a desk? Not the words or the letters, like what that actually stands for.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You have to mix it with a gel to prevent evaporation. It will last several hours like that - plenty long enough to punch yourself over it.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 23 hours ago

TIL.

Any specific gel? Do I cut the end off of an Ethernet cable and let it call out?

[–] scytale@piefed.zip 3 points 1 day ago

Lmao I tried searching what else tcp/ip could mean. I gave up after the 5th page of search results. Even ddg’s ai couldn’t come up with an answer.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Maybe he was in TCP the drug. Not sure what IP could be haha

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

How do you punch yourself over tcp/ip?

I mean, sometimes I jerk off over tcp/ip, but I assume that’s different.

[–] philipsdirk@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Great true crime episode about mentioned boyfriend 'warmachine' https://youtu.be/j3PLLOreTLY

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Guys, calm down. The “tcp/ip” comment was clearly an autocorrect error.
