Went back to the US last year because my father was actively dying, and it blew my mind that these things happened on a Sunday:
workers in the house installing the oven and ventilation from the work they had contracted
the shops were all open for me to go try and find my dad a food tray so he can sit and eat, they didn't have it so my brother ordered one off Amazon to be delivered in a couple hours, but then forgot to finalize the order so they showed up at 10pm.
Fucking insanity the need for instant gratification/consumerism.
After moving to Germany I really started appreciating quiet Sundays. Stores are closed, hardly any traffic anywhere, people walk around parks, maybe get a pint. 99% of us don't need anything so bad on a Sunday it can't wait until Monday
