Rules:

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

The bankruptcy garbage in hiring practices and judgement of character needs to stop (I've never filed bankruptcy). Otherwise, carry on.
Eta: yes yes "susceptible to bribes,” because people financially comfortable like say, Clarence Thomas, aren't.
The bankruptcy thing in the LEO world has to do with getting into situations where they could easily be compromised, not punishing them for bad financial decisions. The idea being it’s easier to bribe and control you. I’m not arguing for or against just that’s the reasoning.
Not that it matters. Notice ICE isn’t deporting wealthy immigrants just the poors. Same way with regular cops. I live where people often have $100k cars and you never see one of them pulled over. I’ve been cut off by more than one Beamer driving recklessly on the way into work and it’s never them.
100% agree
For normal jobs, sure. For law enforcement, the military, the intelligence sector, and possibly even Congress, NO. That is potentially inviting a spy into your organization, as a competing faction can pay their debts for leverage over them.
How is that different from any other form of legal bribery that already exists in the USA?
It is 100% legal to use money as speech in the USA and to provide "gifts" to anyone, including Supreme Court Justices, if you so feel like it

Eh, depends on the job. I feel like it takes a certain type of person to have more than one bankruptcy. That's not normal, and absolutely is a red flag for positions that have responsibilities.
It's not clear if they mean that the two bankruptcies occurred over three years, but if so, that's pretty fucking bad. Almost impressive, really.

It's not even the bribes. These people can be in situations where they have control over other peoples' property. Bankruptcy is very often due to bad luck like a layoff of medical condition, but is also widely caused by a lack of financial maturity. I agree that bad credit should not disqualify most people from most jobs, but then again, do you really want someone working at a bank that is shit with their own money? Some positions need a higher level of scrutiny.
