If you had to start fresh today, what would you hoard? Not trying to turn a profit, just enough to be able for me and maybe my child to own out own stuff and do almost anything technical they desire (within practical constraints)

  • tiny/mini/micro boxes
  • PCIe NICs (appropriate to whatever you’re into/building, but having a set to select from is nice)
  • SBCs
  • maybe a handful of good quality somewhat recent ish laptops if you see any crazy deals
  • anything on slickdeals.net that looks like an absolute steal
  • enterprise grade U2 SSDs - you’ll occasionally find some gems with relatively low wear
  • enterprise hardware that’s getting decommissioned (there are often auctions for this sort of things in major metro areas, as well as areas that host datacenters)
  • we can go on
  • don’t let your dreams be dreams
