you gotta find better thrift stores/cities.
Atlanta GA here. Sometimes there's good finds but the hit rate of men's clothing is proportional to the wider Western culture imo.
also how wealthy the neighborhoods are, what fashion was like there 30 years ago, there's a lot that plays into it that i am an hour's worth of coffee away from being able to explain properly, but then i won't have a keyboard. i'm preaching to the choir anyways, explaining for everyone else's benefit
