I gutted my old defunct laptop to get its CD Drive then bought a cheap convertor on aliexpress. Now it connects to my pc via USB.
You coulda slapped Linux on that bad boy and gotten a few more years of life out of it
Its defunct because a capacitor on the motherboard is fused. Don't worry I got Linux on my pc as well as Server
Just one cap? That's an easy fix
Yeah but I am bring lazy about it.
Well, don't.
Yeah and then just ripped the iso yourself without needing an adapter. Then plop it on a thumb drive or move it across the network.
Thumb drive probably easier than a Linux virgin (as in, inexperienced with Linux...the other type is just redundant) figuring out network shares.
