In the final season of Fringe and have no clue how I slept on it for so long
I've rewatched it twice since its initial run. It's just short enough that nothing is really dragged out and most of the plot points are resolved etc. Not like X-files which is my main comparator to fringe
I watched the beginning of the first episode of Fringe. Was too much like x files for me to continue.
You should try again and stick with it. It doesn't stay in the strictly procedural format. There are multiple big shifts that completely re-frame the story, usually at the end of each season.
Heyy, the wife and I are slowly making our way through season 2 again lately. We just watched the one with the 1980's title card intro, where Walter rescue/kidnaps young Peter.
