For all the scientific discoveries we’ve done and the scientific achievements we have made the humans not in a scientific or engineering field are remarkably irrational and emotional.
…is what I used to say during the meme stock era. Now I would call a significant slice of the human race outright hysterical. These are the direct descendants of “burn the witch”.
How so many people could deify an obvious blowhard for so long is incomprehensible.
Oh the scientists and engineers are nuts too, we're just taught to be good at setting it aside when in our areas of expertise
Some 20 or 30 years ago, before the internet became so everything and I was young, I was pretty stoked on the guy.
I'll never know for sure if he was always a prick with a very good PR team, or if he just turned shitheel along the way
PR team.
He was an "angel" investor who dropped money on companies, then if they took off kicked out the founders and wrote them out of the company history as much as possible.
People have deified blowhards since time immemorial. Most people are cowards. They only want to ride the coattails of the biggest strongman they can find. Only difference is that physical strength is pretty meaningless in politics (and has been since the invention of guns), so being a strongman is just being a blowhard.
