As an ESL speaker, I don't entirely trust speech recognition, because it is wonky with all of our weird foreign accents (much like it's wonky with all of the fine native accents, go figure).

Just keep that in mind when this stuff inevitably gets outsourced to... wherever.

Oh and if you ship several updates in a single morning, something is very wrong. Where are the testers? Where's the review? Don't say they're even less present than usual?

  • Update 3: renamed checkthisfile.js to check_this_file.js because the AI deleted the first and I had to spell it out again

Just look at how crap Google's autosubtitling is on YouTube.
I uploaded my first video to Peertube earlier this year and it got the captions 100% correct iirc and this was just me filming someone at a trade show on my phone. Freaking Peertube has better speech recognition than google.
