Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing other users of being bots or paid actors.
- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately I think he either has hit, or is close to hitting the tipping point and returning to his more conservative views.
He's almost 60, started as a Republican around 40ish? And kept conservative views even after switching to D.
Like, he's just at that age where the brain starts losing critical thinking. When that happens the brain falls back on younger habits and patterns instead of trying to solve every new thing as a new thing.
It's just how the brain works.
Bernie is an outlier because when he was 20 he was in the civil rights movement, him falling back on old habits and patterns isn't that bad, because we still have the same problems.
If/when Jackson returns to his initial political views...
He entered politics as a Republican to protest against immigrants.
Maine deserves better. And they just got fucked.
Playner could have won the election, then stepped down and Maine could get a special election.
Instead the state party (run by Florida fuckups) picked a candidate that's going to only get more conservative over the next 6 years of the term he was handed.
For whatever fucking reason, Maine seems to love conservatism (case-in-point, Collins reelected since forever).
I guess at least Jackson is younger than Collins

Isn't that even what DSA wants to do? You need to unite the working-class, which means also reaching out to those people and bringing them back into the party. Whether or not that means appealing to their ignorance, or reframing the problem is ambiguous, but I think pointing the finger at Schumer (as opposed to say, Mamdani) is a good sign.
Honestly if it's done through actually helping people it's fine, the thing is though that the end goal should be to bring in disaffected folks who aren't directly aligned with either party and shore up existing voters. Going for Republicans is broadly a lost cause unless steps are taken to shit can their propaganda networks so ideological drift can cause regional base splitting.
Exactly what DNC wants to happen. Hell majority of them are right of Regan on policy. So I am not shocked they are championing another former Republican. Just like Elizabeth Warren is also former Republican. She was one while Regan was president and stayed that until the Clinton's took the Democrats to the right.
...like they could've done with Biden. Instead, they switched candidates and further confirmed the rule that it 100% fails when you switch candidates to try and get around the idea that voters can't choose the least worse of exactly two fucking options.
This is gonna go really well. Best case, people get another Fetterman.
