Many people assume that an AI "Share" link is effectively private unless they send it to someone. That's not how the web works. Recently, users discovered that searches like site:claude.ai/share and site:claude.ai/public/artifacts returned publicly shared Claude conversations through search engines. Some indexed pages reportedly contained resumes, company discussions, code, and other sensitive information. Google began removing many results, but the incident highlights an important privacy lesson: once a conversation is published as a public webpage, it can become discoverable

Shareable links are not automatically indexed by search engines. That can only happen if people share them on another place that is indexable. Anthropic should have put more guard rails in place but this was definitely people sharing links

idr how share works, if you continue a conversation isnt it on your account, like the original conversation starter isn't getting xharged, anyone sharing it anywhere publically indexed likely isnt sharing sensitive information so I don't really see the issue

People share sensitive information all the time in places and ways they shouldn't - they think noone is looking, noone is listening, noone is recording - the problem is: when it goes on the web, it's recorded, replayable, visible, for all to see.
