Use MU.social

European bluesky alternative

Though if i recall it can connect to bluesky so you can see that content too

[–] ivn@tarte.nuage-libre.fr 7 points 3 hours ago

Its not a Bluesky alternative, its just a different frontend for Bluesky. A good frontend but nothing more.

*puts EU sticker on US coloured pig*

"There, that makes it better"

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 11 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

creates EU infrastructure that connects to US infrastructure to prevent regional lock-in

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 0 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What "regional lock-in" are you talking about? Isn't all the bluesky tech USAian? Aren't all the technical decisions made in the US? If they decide to introduce some kind of filtering in the code, is the EU side going to copy-paste the code , remove the offending parts, and then host it? I doubt they'll be able to keep that up for long. They are facing millions of dollars across the pond.

Not the PDSs, only the AppView and PLC but EU alternatives for those are in the work too.

Use Mastodon/Sharkey

Fediverse alternative, not connected to nation states or capitalists.

Neither have the user base of Twitter or Bluesky, which is essential for a social platform.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 10 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It's not essential for my social platform

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world -3 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Odd that you wouldn’t want a diversity of voices and backgrounds on your social media platform. Have you thought about about just changing to a diary?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Oh, stop. If you've got something to say just say it.

There are a diversity of voices in every community that is open to the public. I would say an even greater diversity in those spaces where people go when they've grown fed up with the closed, commercial platforms.

[–] Barbarian@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 hours ago

Why are you wasting time on Lemmy then? Shouldn't you be posting on Facebook instead?

BlueSky itself is still operated and developed by a corporation though, even if an instance isn’t. Thus you’re still beholden to the whims of the people in charge of that.

Love me some greedy assholes, i trust them with my every fiber of being 😍

Jokes aside if we have more people, things could change pretty fast in a good way.
