Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I sure hope some of the military try is a coup from the army be that bad at this point?

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, it would be that bad. Please look at Myanmar right now. You do NOT want a Military Junta or a Military Dictatorship. You think civil liberties are being eroded quickly now?! Shiiiiit

[–] HeadfullofSoup@kbin.earth 4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I see what you mean but you have the risk of turning like myanmar if a junta happen or the near 100% chance of becoming a white christofascists techno hellhole with some north korea dictatorship sprinkle on it

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

You're literally describing the United States post-9/11, the only difference is that they've gone mask off. We've been in a christofascist techno hellhole sprinkled with North Korea dictatorship this entire time. We effectively have one party with two (slightly different) wings (both right wing, though), and did you really think it was normal to pledge allegiance to the flag of your country every single day while slurping down Department of Education approved propaganda?

The military junta would not be a better set of circumstances. It would be exactly like right now only more extreme, considering all of the top military brass is also a bunch of christofascists

Um, yes? Have you read the Patriot Act? Are you aware of the PRISM program from NSA? What about our immigration policy which is just a passed-down-the-line version of the Bush era immigration policy? This stuff didn't start with Trump. It's been ramping up for a while.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yes.

It is much much worse now.

The parties are not even remotely the same. One sucks. The other wants to fucking kill Americans on american soil with American troops to crush any and all opposition.

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 7 hours ago

One hand washes the other. Remember this: no good, decent, kind person wants to be in charge of their people. There is no thing as a good politician.

You're right, it's much much worse now. But this has always been where we have been heading. Probably since Reagan. Maybe longer. The difference is that you started paying attention.

I think it can and will become really more extreme as soon as all the peon are in place. Think automatic drone kill in US city, target choosen by an AI when you write or say anything they don’t like a really automatic killing factory and i’m not from the US but they will come for us up north when everything they consider “left” fall.

And yes i know most military brass are fascist too but i do hope (naively i guess ) that some of them still love the USA enough to fight for it

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 hours ago

Oh it's gonna get more extreme no matter what. We are fully passed the tipping point now. No where to go but through, I fear.
