When I was a kid, I didn't understand a lot. Everytime I asked a question, the adults in the room would say "you'll understand when you're older".

Ok. It's been like 38 years......I still don't understand.

What exactly is Dee Snyder supposed to be with this look??? If this look were invented today, I would think he's mocking trans people. But this was the mid 80s. I never in my life heard the term "trans" until maybe 2010. So in 1985, they weren't a focal point of society. If they existed at all they were very rare. Not well known enough for an anti trans image to make sense in 1985.

So, what is he supposed to be with this look? A caveman??? A manniquinn??? I have no idea what I'm he's going for here.

To emphasize the "Twisted Sister" image, Snider adopted a trademark persona of metal-inspired drag with long blond curly hair, an excessive amount of eye shadow and rouge, a beauty mark, and bright red lipstick.

so I guess it was to look like a "twisted sister"?

I guess that makes sense when it's explained like that.

But a million guesses, and I never would have got that right.

I mean it’s hair metal and gender bending. Nothing about that is transphobic.

Look up talk shows like donahue. Tons of discussing trans people and their issues and place in society during the 80s and 90s. You can find episodes on YouTube. You get a good look at where people were at then.
