Driving a motorcycle doesn’t make you special and you should have to follow the same rules that cars follow.
If I can’t do it in a car, you can’t do it on a motorcycle
It does make them special in one very important way: it’s much harder for police to catch them.
It's also a lot easier for a motorcyclists to die or be gruesomely maimed in an accident.
In normal countries (not dumberikkka where the leading cause of death for almost all age groups is guns... I mean fuk people get shot by their pets there... just wow) the leading cause of death for young males is motorcycles. ER workers call them donorcycles.
This made me laugh so fucking hard. Because it’s true.
...then don’t ride a motorcycle.
Challenge accepted
The reason motorcycles are allowed to filter is many years ago they were all air cooled. Sitting in traffic without moving would overheat your bike.
Not necessarily. It's also safer, as the filtered cars act as a buffer for the texting idiot to hit instead of the bike.
Lots of cars also don't follow the rules, though, and I didn't get the impression that motorcyclists are less likely to be punished for it (but maybe that's a thing where you live, IDK). I do think that both cars and motorcycles should have way stricter noise restrictions, which might very well spell the end of ICE motorcycles because the technology is inherently loud even when they aren't making noise on purpose.
Eh. Lane splitting can legitimately reduce congestion and improve safety, at least when drivers are aware of their surroundings... which yes I know, for some is apparently a high bar.
You should visit India sometime
Nope!
and i think they can be a bigger ahole, they once knocked the plastic casing off the front door mirror of my dads car, just by passing by for no reason(every car was in a traffic jam), or the percieved cycler somehow think we shouldnt passed them, while stuck a traffic jam.
Never owned one but splitting lanes is dope. More power to the riders and stay safe out there.
Stop signs exist to compensate for blind spots. At some intersections, the angle and the speed limit line up such that a car will remain hidden in the front blind spot behind the roof support beam until it's too late to avoid a crash. These intersections are rare, but they're the only appropriate place to put stop signs. Most stop signs are put in due to poor traffic planning and political unwillingness to implement proper traffic calming, and do little to improve safety.
Motorcycles do not have roof support beams, do not have front blind spots, and thus have no use for stop signs. They shouldn't be required to stop at stop signs.
No. Just fucking no.
Stop signs exist because it's not possible to evaluate if the junction is safe to pull into without stopping and looking around first, and then making sure you're moving into the junction slowly by starting from stationary rather than launching into the middle of the road at 20mph.
In the UK they rarely ever use stop signs apparently. Every fucking intersection where I am is a stop sign.
I think we way over use them and in many cases we should have had a yeild sign.
There's no reason a motorbike should have to stop at this intersection
For every one you find like that, there are a shitload where everyone needs to stop because you can't see past the hedge or there's a curve.
What about these? I mean, if we're being totally disingenuous and fixating on extreme outliers...
Stop signs should ONLY be used for extreme outliers
You're just following the prompt right? Posting an unpopular opinion? Because you've nailed it.
Sometimes I feel like a motorcycle's blindspots is everyone else on the road.
