This is kinda regional perhaps. Winter here is like 6 hours of daytime at its worst, but most days it's overcast so you really get 5-6 hours of real sunshine a week. It's depressing as fuck. And oftentimes the snow doesn't really last, it melts and everything is just muddy to boot.

Spring is when both nature and people (we're part of nature after all) start to come alive. Summer is fucking wild. It doesn't go dark around summer solstice. Like the sun technically sets for like 5-6 hours, but it's never truly dark for a few weeks before and after summer solstice. It just... energizes you if you're a night owl to start with.

Yes it gets hot, but the truly hot weather is just heat waves. Surprisingly enough while southern and central Europe was all kinds of fucked this year, we only truly had like 2 weeks of hot and it was a pleasant hot.

And like if I want to, I can just stay in during the day, enjoy my cooled home, then go out at like 7 PM when the sun is still out, but it's not that hot anymore. You sit outside being bitten by mosquitoes, but you don't really notice that it's suddenly 3 AM because you were having beers with your friends, sitting around a fire at some campsite...

We really didn't have the same summer, south west of france here. First heatwave was mid may wich already was close to 40c for two weeks, then actual summer arrives and sometimes for weeks we didn't have anything below 30c even at night. I can't enjoy my cooled home as it's not cooled. Spent most of summer at home, dripping from the sweat only wearing undies. Every summer is harder to go through than the previous one and it legit scares me to think about how it will be in say 10 years.
