Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Stop giving Nazis attention.
Boomers that are serious fans of the series know Transformers had the entire squad of queer and genders characters, all the way since first comic.

Literally Orion Pax & Megatron were they first gay couple. Until blatantly elections got in the way. Megatron is right, oppressors need to be challenged at every step.
Point taken; but on the other hand, we can't ignore them to death, can we? Like you said, oppressors need to be challenged at every step. I think there's a difference between clapping back at some chud's "gotcha" moment and allowing them into a space for debate.
The video addresses this directly.
Challenging oppression means going out of our comfort, organizing, and directly acting. The Malaysian is already wanted in Malaysia, Malaysian have that challenged.
Now, when is the Twitter Takedown?
If we are to apply the thesis in Transformers & ThoughtSlime, X Corp Headquarters needs some renovations.
I believe resistance occurs in many forms. And I'm all for a, let's say, radical renovation to the X HQ.
Anyway, I don't appreciate being ordered about. Only my spouse gets to do that, and only when I'm wearing the collar.
Then I hope to see you soon in Bastrop, Texas. We got Decepticons in captivity. Rolling out.
I'm queer, trans, disabled, and poor. You'll have to enjoy TX for the both of us.
I respectfully disagree about giving Nazi's attention.
You should pay attention long enough to them to punch them in the face, or take a bat to their knees. And it's very important that you pay them attention when aiming a gun at them, as you don't want to hit innocent bystanders.
Though those are the only exceptions I can think of, everything else you're spot on about.
Watch the video comrade. It explains both.
Going to say no to that, but not because I disagree with the content but because today is a day where getting enough dopamine is difficult. I will however save it and hope it doesn't get doomboxxed so I can enjoy the content when I'm capable of giving it the attention it deserves.
perfectly comprehendable. ThoughtSlime took a lot of work to prepare this video essay, so please take the time to take notes on it. You‘ll find out much more than you anticipated. I know I did.
Did you mean to say Gen Xers?
Boomer just means old person now
I reject this premise. I refuse to give in to the morons.
You will just be another person mad that literally is used for emphasis, or can even mean figuratively. Language isn't static.
Does that mean I can call anyone under 30 an infant?
I think a better analogy is how older people were blaming stuff done by teens on "millennials" well into the late 2010s and even early 2020s when even the youngest millennials were well into their 20s.
Boomer if you're born in the 20th century, millennial if you're born around the 21st century. That seems to be how these terms are evolving.
confused late 80s birthday noises
"Kids these days" has been a complaint from older generations for as long as there's been language.
Well it’s not as though there’s much that can really stop you, so yes.
Spoiler: I already was.
Yes, whether or not that means it becomes a popular facet of actual language is a whole different thing though, and that's the part your are ignoring, the broad change in how words are used.
As much as I detest this pointless inter-generational conflict and dumb labels, if you start calling Gen X 'Boomers' don't be surprised when you get pushback. If anything, Gen X has the biggest grudge against the baby boomers out of all. Those fuckers were our parents, and they sold us a lie.
Can confirm, am pissed.
& @almacca@aussie.zone you're in c/196 you can be pissed at your parents, and accept language lives. There’s a reason my wife religiously says “get with the times boomer!”
If you're not keep up with your kid’s dialect, diction, language, issues, concerns, politics, acts, and feelings, you're not really interested in making changes your parents deceived you to make. Generational abuse stops with us. and if kids want to call us boomers, so be it. It's their language, their future, their lives.
I just hope they can welcome me too in the wonders they’ll achieve. If not, so be it too. I did what I could with what I knew. A home in me they have.
Buddy, correct your language. Ableism is against community rules.
It's one thing to deny language changes every generation, and another to call children that disengage in how you use words “morons.”
I want kids to have choice. If they want to use different meanings for words, that is their choice. If you think that is “moronic.” Do not interact with me. See my bio.
🙄
Wait, what!? Megatron was gay? I mean, do robots (in disguise) even love?
Today I learned I guess.
Metal on Metal.
It’s actually not even “robots in disguise”, it’s “robots into guys”
It was implied, as they were friends during the Cybertron war. After MoL fell to Orion, their friendship extremely soured.
This isn't even a worthwhile question. They are more capable than love than meets the eye.
I'm not a deep fan of Transformers, but I heard of a time when a transformer carried a human fetus in their robo-womb, so anything is possible.
In what continuity were Orion and Megatron any more than friends? In the '84 cartoon Orion has a girlfriend named Ariel who becomes Elita-1 at the same time Orion becomes Prime. He doesn't seem to have even met Megatron yet. And I'm not sure the original comics even cover Optimus before he was Prime.
This was how I remember it too, but it's been a while since I read the comics and watched the show. They used to basically be brothers. I don't remember any implication either. But given how many decades it's been, and my age at the time, I would have likely missed it. That being said, I looked through the TFWiki link the parent comment provided and didn't see anything about them being more than friends.
There was a comic series were Orion was a pathological serial killer, and that is how Megatron befriend Pax, “enemy of my enemy.” Ariel dies in this one. I am not a fan of the series, so forgive me for not recalling the name of the retcon continuity.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's a Shattered Glass run
I tried reviewing that continuity to see if it was the one I read, but the artstyle didn't match, or Orion’s position when recruiting Megatron in the war. Plus, Megatron is the hero in Shattered Glass. The one I read still made him a villain. I found it whiplashing that as soon as Orion got the MoL, he somehow gained empathy. I stopped reading exactly there, because after all the genocide he committed on that continuity, he now regrets his actions and won’t reparate‽ What kind of monster are you writing? Empathy needs to follow up with appropriate reparations you 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Got it, no idea what that one was then, but I'll be happy not knowing.
