Banned from multiple communities I never heard of because I criticized a pro-AI mod
(futurology.today)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
Why does a group called "Fuck Corporate AI" has a pro-AI mod?
Regulatory capture?
Take over the group/sub to push content you approve and deny that you disagree with
I'm guessing they're opposed only to corporate use, while endorsing individual use (my indicator being the trove of Stable Diffusion communities they also mod). I'd love to check it out, but db0 defederated us.
I've seen a few types about that mostly criticise the way companies use it at scale to replace human employees. Their argument is that generating and refining images with successive prompts produces higher quality "art" than the mediocre slop put out by corporations.
If you accept the premise that the value of art is the quality of the result rather than the effort that went into making it and acquiring the skills for it, that logic holds up well enough. It's just that most artists disagree, and once the sloppers start to claim that their effort is comparable, never having actually invested the time and energy into learning just how wrong they are, that their argument starts to crumble irredeemably.
Well, OP is now banned here...
It seems they're just really good at making friends all around. Getting banned both by the AI subs and by fuck_ai indicates it was never about AI.
Reason given in the modlog is harassment. Sounds about right.
