An Internet meme or meme, is a cultural item that is spread via the Internet, often through social media platforms. The name is by the concept of memes proposed by Richard Dawkins in 1972. Internet memes can take various forms, such as images, videos, GIFs, and various other viral sensations.

This reminds me of people in the past making fun of these using computers and calling them dorks and nerds. Personally i'm much concerned with people who use memes and pictures as a form of debate

The problem is the medium of memes doesn't convey ideas well, if at all, and helps promote thought-terminating ideologies and ignorant partisanship. If you can fit the idea into a meme, it's probably oversimplified to the point of uselessness, and if the meme relies on you already knowing the real idea, it's not informing anyone of anything.

Using only media and memes to convey ideas looks indeed concerning to me, take a look at https://sopuli.xyz/ frontpage: most of it it's memes and there's not a single text thread

You can run AI locally on your computer and it will destroy the planet as much as a playing a videogame would do.

A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme.

Memes carry a lot of meta data that is unspoken, a single meme can be worth a thousand words
