Andy was 16 roughly in 2004 (he celebrated his 6th bday in 1995 when he got Buzz). Chrome, that popularized Incognito Mode hasn't been released until 2008.

Back in the day we just had an extra browser where we always cleared all history after usage (was Opera for me).

Safari introduced private browsing in 2005.

Granted, Chrome eventually innovated by coming up with a catchier name.

I was too dumb for any contingencies so I would have porn image files all over the desktop and browser history. There were some traumatizing moments

Phht. I just downloaded porn on kazaa and limewire, which invariably ended up being a virus, and then my dad yelled at me asking why the the browser kept trying to go to "Britney spears sucks dick" websites and I got banned from the computer for months

Limewire is why I learnt to use Linux through necessity.

There was a huge computer herpes epidemic back then 😔

I saved my porn images, which i curated over many disconnects thanks to incoming phone calls, deeply nested within some program folder. No one was gonna accidentally stumble on my great stash.

Data hoarding is born from data droughts

You forgot to put *67 before your dial-up number? It was one of the earlier things I learned about using the Internet in the 90s

I hid my spank bank inside game directories. At the time most of the textures for any game were image files so it was easy to hide them. I learned that those image files could be modified pretty easily. I used this to upload my entire spank bank as wallpapers in the Sims. I tried to change the character texture models for Vice City or GTA3 I can't remember which, to reasonable some model I was obsessed with as a teenager to limited success.
