A bit sexist but upvoted for the potential. Here's how simple it is to remove the sexism:
I'm a man and I don't find it all that sexist.
It's a fairly lighthearted stab at how young men often lack basic life skills. In a patriarchal society, we've perhaps grown too accustomed to the women in our lives doing a lot of things for us because "men bring home the bacon, women keep things in order at home". Moms when we're young, then girlfriends, wives.
Yes, your version would work too, but not as well IMO.
It's very sexist but man I don't know wtf is up. Every single time it's a masuline name my groceries are picked horribly and super common things are magically out of stock. One time I ordered tampons and the person with the masuline name got me Poise pads instead. THOSE THINGS ARE THICC AF FOR BLADDER LEAKS!!. 😭 Dude just grab a different brand of tampons, they all have the same logic of L, R, and S.
I saw it as a commentary on how the patriarchy infantilizes men to the point where they don't even know how to shop properly. And that she doesn't have that experience with her now wife.
Which is sometimes unfortunately accurate. Every horrible insta experience has been a dude. It hasn't been many, but when I ask for frozen pizza, no you can't swap it out for frozen peas. I get that they share a lot of letters, but c'mon.
there's gotta be some sort of factor where low effort men gravitate to Instacart and low effort women gravitate to other jobs. I don't readily accept that men are just shittier, considering my own experience is rather equal
because that peas for pizza thing is fucking terrible lmao
as a related note, I'm not sure if we've had one successful male project manager at work. I think we have a couple now and at least one of them is doing well, but prior to that none of them lasted more than half a year and didn't do well in that time. I think we're approaching the half year mark on one of the men now. the women seem to be the only ones that can keep up with the shitstorm and put up with the abuse from all sides. I sure as fuck couldn't/wouldnt. read into that what you will about how people are treated in that work environment, and specifically how women are treated and how they deal with it.
So if patriarchy doesn't provide women proper experience in leadership roles, your logic also makes it ok to say this:
Your logic seems a bit problematic. As for me personally, I'd rather not perpetrate stereotypes even if they happen to be true today.
Please no more "girl boss" bosses. They learned all the wrong lessons and made actual good bosses even more rare.
I'm not sure project management is a household task. So that feels a bit weird. Totally different relationship dynamic.
But otherwise, yes, you're talking about mentorship of women and we want more of that.
Weird because the author didn't mention any source of blame. Except the man, and men in general, of course.
I see your comment as a very charitable interpretation of a clearly sexist comment that would never be tolerated if it were a man disparaging a woman for not being good at something stereotypically in the domain of men, like cars or whatever.
We've really got over "I hate my wife" humour to replace it with "I hate my (hypothetical) husband" humour.
I'm happy you think my lived experience is charitable. I could just as easily say that yours is needlessly confrontational. And both of those opinions have the same merit. None.
And she clearly hated her husband enough to divorce him. So... Yeah. You're allowed to hate your ex. That's the whole point of having an ex. What's stupid is when you hate on your current spouse.
Your experiences are not up for debate - it's not the same thing as your interpretation of someone else's words. You haven't experienced the correct interpretation of the words from original author - you've experienced a situation that you see in those words. Your interpretation is therefore that they're talking about the same situation as you were in and, what's more, that their perception of it is the same as yours. Because that interpretation goes beyond the actual words they used, and because the words they used really sound like they're saying something else, that makes it charitable.
Sounds like more interpretation of the situation that goes beyond the words written. Maybe you've got additional insight into it that isn't in the post?
How miserable. I don't hate any of mine. I think only one hates me.
" being married to a man (again)" - this seems to imply that she was previously married to a man, and she's microdosing doing it again.
And my point isn't that you should hate your ex. I don't hate mine. My point is that people say you shouldn't hate your spouse. And that is true. If you hate your spouse, leave, don't bad mouth them. I was keeping you on topic because you brought up hating on husbands, and we're not talking about husbands. We're talking about ex's.
Yep, certainly previously married to a man. But maybe he divorced her? Or he died, or they split amicably? Lots of possibilities.
Thanks for your clarification about not hating your spouse, I understand where you were coming from now. Looks like I interpreted that one too uncharitably, eh?
