Despite the band Muse having had its Instagram account since 2012 and its X account since 2008, it has seemingly surrendered the handle to Mark Zuckerberg’s newest AI agent.
Likely there was a great amount of money involved in the purchase.
That... seems a little optimistic? I hope you're right but I'd be surprised.
It's probably like the whole Reddit thing. Fine print says they can do whatever with your account, from using its content to just taking it. Copyright and trademark probably don't apply here, and they'll argue that they didn't really take the account, they just changed the "user" name.
There probably was money involved - between Meta and X/Elon Musk.
