GrapheneOS is currently defending its use of AI coding tools on Mastodon against complaints by various accounts claiming to be users.

We do not understand where you're coming from or why you're so incredibly angry with us. It's not justified and does not make sense.

Like every other recent bubble, the output is not monolithic and uniform. Like all before it, all the stupid/silly/wasteful use cases will dry up, and something will remain, but nothing like what we see at the apex of the hype cycle.

See the dot-com and crypto bubbles for the most directly applicable examples. Both yielded useful technological advancements still in use today, but those are only a fraction of a speck of a ghost of the use cases being touted at their peak.
