You're supposed to have your own moral scaffolding and motivation in place by then, it's a rather large part of growing up
My parents are dead. But pretty much everyone I have never known who has them be alive, very much considered how their actions will impact their parents admiration for them, yes.
No, you're not. You're supposed to inherent from your parents/culture/community. If you 'build your own scaffolding' you're a outlier and likely detached from your community.

What does it matter that young people hate older people on the simple basis of age? For that matter, why does it matter if someone is: racist, a misogynist, a misandrist, homophobic, transphobic? Who cares!
