Like if they do this, I'm just not going to buy the stuff unless getting. I WOULD buy ebooks but most are DRM locked and can't be loaded onto my e-reader, for example. Most the games I grab haven't been sold for over 10 years by their publishers.

Most authors will GLADLY sell you DRM-free EPUBs if you ask them.

ebook sales are some of the worst payouts for authors so whenever they can, they sell them directly. Many list them on e.g. Patreon for a monthly fee, or offer a form of direct purchase, because all that money goes directly to them.

I wish so bad more people understood this shit. Our brain dead society can literally only process "bUY On tEH aMAZoON??!!"

People now are idiots and can't even search the web to find where to buy a product (usually cheaper directly from the manufacturer if they do shipping), they sure as hell aren't gonna find an author on patreon.
