Two words. Seasonal depression. You don't get that in the summer.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If you don't have an AC, you very much do

[–] anonymouse2@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 days ago

Seasonal heatstroke

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The sunlight makes up for it. Having like 6 hours of real sunlight fucking sucks. I also hate having to put on like six layers to take out the garbage without having the air hurt my skin

Sunlight isn't worth much when it's too hot to leave the house without fear of heatstroke.

[–] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

I live where it gets over 100f in the summer, never really feared heatstroke. Drink water.

The alternative is it being too cold to leave without fear of frostbite.

Also unless you're wearing a full Arctic exploration suit then the air is gunna hurt when it's -35c (with windchill) which fucking sucks for doing small errands. I'd rather just be a little hot and not need to put on a whole 10 layers to bring out the garbage or recycling

edit: I'd also rather die of heatstroke enjoying my 12 hours of sunlight than die frozen in the 3:30pm darkness

You don't get that in the summer.

I get it only in summer

Come live in the hellscape of Texas. You cannot go outside from late may until mid October. It was 103F+ from mid July until 3 days ago. I paid almost $700 for my electric bill last month. The house is stale and hasn't had fresh air in months. I have a huge list of projects that I very much want to make progress on, but ten minutes outside takes me multiple hours to recover from. The temperature in the parking lot in front of the grocery store was above 120F a few days ago.

Seasonal depression occurs in the cursed summer here. As soon as my family members pass on, I will never return to this god forsaken, scorched wasteland.

Texas is its own Hell any season.

Well then I invite You to Poland, where besides 3 months of summer everything is gray, cold and damp. The grass is always greener I guess.

[–] wookiepedia@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

So true. If only we could do some "clever corporate accounting" (aka thermodynamic tax fraud) with the temps between us.

I am thoroughly depressed all summer. The first cooler, shorter day I’m like a happy new person. I’m a redhead and can easily get sick being in the sun. Fuck summer, bring on the cooler, shorter, stormier days and I’m all in for snowball fights, sledding, soups, sweaters, cozy fires, and a good scotch.
