Is this going to be another thread of people taking an obvious joke seriously
Poe's law. It's not extreme enough. I can easily picture a maga using this logic to justify why Trump's middle east fuckup isn't all that bad.
While it doesn't show the whole post, nothing about this screams obvious joke.
I saw a Trump supporter in a very red area of the U.S. share this or a very similar thing sincerely. He didn't think it was a joke.
Literally the entire thing screams obvious joke.
I once got an F in school for pointing out the text was an obvious joke 😂 It wasn't. Turns out people in that time period were really stupid. (Guess that also holds true for modern times. Maybe even more so.)
I think we have different definitions of obvious.
Yes. I have the correct one, you have the wrong one.
Oh, is this like the thing where "literally" can be used in additional contexts outside of its primary meaning? So, this joke is "obvious"?
No like the joke is just obvious to anyone who has eyes and reading comprehension skills and a basic understanding of humor.
The Tisms strike again
Dude, I've got the 'tism; I think this is largely a media literacy issue.
If that’s the case then I think Lemmy has some of the worst media literacy per user that I’ve ever seen in one space online. Minus maybe Facebook
Media literacy around the world is in shambles, not just in some dumb corner of the internet.
In this case I’m specifically referring to detection of satire and sarcasm
Oh, I happen to agree.
I know people who post this unironically. They are too far gone
