When I went to live in a formerly communist country I got warned beforehand that the people there hate their communist past but I met mostly people who were super nostalgic about it.
it can be both. you can have people who miss the security but also hate communism. you cant just expect them to be consistent or to make sense.
The people there didn’t hate communism though, it was western liberals who warned me that they would.
yeah, i'm just telling you the sorts of things i've heard from people here in a former warsaw pact country
