But what I don't get is even people, like the people that have replied to me here, still believe the same system...

The entire system is based on psychological manipulation and people still act like voting matters... If people are. Real about it all... Why be a part.of the foundation that's faulty? They seem to want to feed the beast they claim is the enemy and they can't understand that they are being played by the enemy.

Whether you believe voting matters is not important. If it is, if does matter—if you are wrong—to speak of and treat voting as so unimportant is to risk it becomes certainty and self-fulfilling prophecy: A voter that does not believe their vote matters is less likely to vote. A vote not cast reduces the effectiveness of the voting population that may agree with the voter. Enough of these voters results in a scenario wherein anyone remaining aren't getting what they want, and the cancerous attitude grows.

As brought up by another: Why are so many working to suppress your vote if it does not make a difference? This attitude you espouse is the very same they, themselves, spread, and works to their favor.

You can't have a free society when you have corporations and governments using their massive budgets on the best of psychological manipulation. This should, of course, be illegal.

Just like you wouldn't put up with an abusive spouse that lies and manipulates you. Just like you wouldn't tolerate a boss or coach that is a criminal. People in power should absolutely be held to a much higher standard.

Instead, because of liberty (AKA the rich and well connected can do whatever they want with no consequences) we live in a dystopian two-tiered society that worships money. We even have a word for it. Fuck you money, the ultimate ideal and freedom in the US.

Sadly, abusive people are normalized and even praised among enough people still. The "tough coach and break their will to mold them into stronger people" BS. It's pervasive in families, supernatural groups, sports, military and authoritarian leaning politics. It's the same pattern of punch down on others, obey those above you and don't question. Hurt others as you were hurt and call it normal. It's tragic.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Yes, I can see your point and I agree. The amount of abuse that is normalized is staggering.

They even profit off the threat to their own foundational game.

...voting is never going to solve this... I don't think violence solves it either. Violence and war is like a bandaid.

You are surprisingly astute. It is refreshing to hear. Thank you.

Voting does matter. That's why the wealthy try so hard to control it. You should push back, not dismiss voting.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works -1 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Fuck off and make your own system then. Jesus fuck we dont need retards undermining every single fucking effort to oppose fascism with their shitty takes.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

No reason to get all offended by someone pointing out our shit system. That is the first step in change, identifying the actual problem. Democracy will never work under the conditions that have existed since the US was formed.

What's your name and home address? I want to invite you to a party. So many people want to meet you.
