I'm not into purity tests except for this one. If the idea of dead Dick Cheney makes you any kind of sad beyond "I'm sorry he didn't suffer more" you are simply wrong and I won't have it.

Saddened to learn is about as mild and passive as you can get.

I can be happy as a pig in shit, and still be "saddened to learn" something.
