On Monday, men arrived in a boat at a beach in northeast Mexico and installed some signs signaling land that the U.S. Department of Defense considered restricted.

Mexico's Foreign Affairs Ministry said late Monday that the country's navy had removed the signs, which appeared to be on Mexican territory. "The origin of the signs and their placement on national territory were unclear," the ministry said in a statement.

How about we fucking not start wars because a pedo wont face the consequences of his own actions, please.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 68 points 10 months ago

This fucking pedophile and pedophile buddies would rather destroy this country and keep fucking kids than ever owning up to the fact that they're pedophiles.

Especially don’t start wars with nations you share a land border with.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Why is that a meaningful distinction?

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well, it’s a whole lot easier for a neighbor to strike back at you.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Right, but why is anyone concerned with if it’s easier to hit America back?

The issue here isn’t that Mexico might strike back, it’s that the US might invade.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I’m not talking about the moral aspect, just the strategic.

Obviously invading any nation is generally a bad thing.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Strategically it's far easier for the US to roll over the border and secure a neighbouring country compared to the logistics of supplying an occupation force abroad.

It's not like they're under any real threat of losing, and actors can already launch attacks from inside of the US without sharing a border.

And if your objective is annexation of land, well you generally do need to look at your borders unless you want some weird remote colony/not-colony like Gibraltar.

Look at Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for how well that can go.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 2 points 9 months ago

Russia and the US are leagues apart in terms of military capabilities.

Would Mexico have the same financial and material backing as Ukraine has received?

Those Epstein files must be really bad.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Pretty sure his name will be blacked out because of national security reasons. It's the DOJ that's delivering the files

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Got it, so mentally replace 'redacted' with the words Donald Trump

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago

That's dangerous. Surely there are a lot of other Republicans on that list paying a lot of money to get their names redacted, too. Can't let those child molesters get away from it either. America has a very deep sickness that needs to be cut out.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 28 points 10 months ago

The origin of the signs is a bunch of idiot gravy seals who thought they were being clever by illegally crossing the border in a little fishing boat and hammering them into sovereign Mexican territory. If you made up the last 10 years nobody would believe you.

[–] skiguy0123@lemmy.ca 19 points 10 months ago

The signs, driven into the sand near where the Rio Grande empties into the Gulf of Mexico, caused a stir when witnesses said men in a boat arrived at the local beach known as Playa Bagdad and erected them.

Oh that explains it, they must have confused it with Baghdad, Iraq

[–] psoul@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago

Thus have started… the pedo wars

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

So we're committing an act of war by invading a sovereign nation without an official declaration of war from Congress? "I'm sure this is Constitutional," said no one ever.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

In fairness, we haven't actually issued a Declaration of War since WW2. Everything since has been a policing action authorized under the bi-annual NDAA

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 7 points 10 months ago

What you call a "policing action", the rest of us call crimes executed by war criminals.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 1 points 9 months ago

"I'm sure this is Constitutional," said no one ever.

It sure sounds a lot like something the president would say! Or, it would be something he'd mindlessly repeat to the cameras after Miller or whoever wormtongue'd it into his ear beforehand.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 9 points 10 months ago (4 children)
[–] JackDark@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's definitely not legal in many cases. It's just an that unfortunately no one will do anything about it.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

The issue is law enforcement is run by the ones needing to be arrested.

Were discovering real world examples of why there needs to be a wholly separate investigation and enforcement system with separate control from any of the three branches to handle investigations into the government itself. Relying solely on the public to vote has failed.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 10 months ago

Depends on what you consider modern. "War is a racket" is a thing for a reason.

Faux News: Trump has won the Nobel Peace Prize, by convincing Mexico and the Cartels to set aside their differences.

/s. Probably.

We shouldn't have to write on all of the world's land that the US isn't welcome. They should know that already
