Where do we find the list of who voted for/against it so I know the tone I should take when I call their office?

I am increasingly happy to see that my district's representative is consistently on the right side of this stupid bullshit. I wish I could say the same for other reps in the state.

"right" meaning "correct", or ideology?

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 5 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Definitely the correct (left) side. :)

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 7 months ago

Cool.

Now, now have the house denounce fascism and white supremacy.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 22 points 7 months ago

That sounds... divisive.

[–] arcterus@piefed.blahaj.zone 29 points 7 months ago (1 children)

This sort of shit is why Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez defending Jeffries is ridiculous.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 7 months ago

Yep, he and Schmuck Schumer have to go. Their lack of urgency in addressing MAGA is 50% responsible for Trump's second term.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 24 points 7 months ago

Take this as a list of cowards who need to be ousted

Some of the most irony-poisoned bullshit I’ve ever heard, given all the socialism that businesses are benefiting from https://www.cato.org/policy-analysis/corporate-welfare-federal-budget-0

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 7 months ago

The MAGA opposition to "Socialism" only extends to Democrats. Sociopathic Oligarchs will continue to receive their re-distribution of wealth, but don't expect your $2000 "Tariff Rebate."

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 19 points 7 months ago (2 children)

That is too far a disconnect. Is not bailing out banks and car companies a form of socialism? Are biological people even considered anymore? People are social animals. By extension, social endeavors should be at the top of the list. Let's not get into the specific definitions of "political" socialism to muddy the waters. It's all people all the time.

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 7 months ago

These people talking about the "horrors" of socialism are also clamoring to pay companies to build data centers in their districts.

1: no

2: no

3: yes

4: preach

5: socialism is the workers owning the means of production, not the government doing stuff

6: true

If only we had someone who had all of the answers, then we'd be okay.

[–] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 11 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

well, i asked the other day who the other democrats were that would have caved during the shutdown that need to be primaried. Now I know.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 11 points 7 months ago

Those 86 still be primaried by crowd-funded progressive challengers.

The others will be primaried by corporate AIPACrats with several orders of magnitude more campaign funding.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 10 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

a distraction BIll for the mess that caused the shutdown to end. pretty much shows which ones are AIPAC funded too. DNC still chasing the ever elusive commie hating magat voting base.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

Most Democrats have their fingers in the air trying to figure out what to say to appeal to the largest number of their constituents.

Do their constituents like socialism? Are they scared of it? What will make you like me more?

They somehow still haven't figured out that what a lot of people really want is someone to actually lead.

I get it. In one sense listening to your voters is good. But you don't have to be so desperate about it, and you've gotta try to do what's best for your people without checking to see exactly how much they might like it at every turn.

More Democrats should have called this out for the bullshit it is.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 8 points 7 months ago

They don't FEAR us enough. We need to change that perception.

[–] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

No shit plenty of Democrats won't agree with a particular brand of leftism: the party is a big tent.

From the resolution text, they lump all of socialism with communism primarily Marxism-Leninism, which other socialists would also reject, and don't acknowledge other forms of socialism.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 6 months ago

I mean I would not sign the bs thing taking out of context quotes. Its like everything republicans do. If you don't sign they will point to that to say your a communist but if you do they will point to it as support for lowering or eliminating taxes and regulation and social programs. Its a trap one way or another so better to me to not be part of it.

[–] MonkRome@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Both of the ones from my state are from moderate conservative districts. Completely unsurprising that they won't stick their necks out for something entirely symbolic. Though I don't get why they can't just abstain from a silly vote.
