They got basically all the ingredients wrong. Sushi rice requires sushi rice vinegar, which they forgot. Smoked salmon isn't bad, but most people would expect raw in sushi. Regular soy sauce works, but isn't what would be traditionally eaten with sushi
With the right marketing, it’s a sushi bowl now. Different arrangement, same taste. Besides, it’s all brown in the end :)
So I did this multiple times in my life until one day I was so angry I left a comment to a very nice japonese woman under her YT video and she replied that I was using the wrong rice. After.some exchange she gave me a list of japanese brands she uses. I found one of them on the internet, paid premium and did step by step what she said (wash wash wash more was) IT WORKED!
I'll never do it again because that was too much work lol and that was some extra expensive rice, but now I know I can
You okay, OP?
So if I follow the instructions, I'll successfully accomplish sushi?
I’ve tried to make sushi. This checks out.
I chuckled. Ty.
I haven't seen smoked salmon in sushi. Tbh I avoid most salmon sushi since it's usually some of the most bland, without any taste salmon they use in sushi. The other rolls are much more tasty and interesting
It's put in some Americanized sushi like the "Philadelphia Roll" -- which also includes cream cheese.
Aka the worst roll ever invented
Salmon wasn't traditionally eaten with sushi. It was a relatively recent addition after a very successful advertising campaign from Norwegian salmon fishers and farmers, IIRC
Oh…yes this is very relatable some days. Big hugs to you if you need them.
