25 years ago in my hometown in Hungary, my dad literally had to cut through the snow so I could get around. Snow was waist deep for him, and while that was a somewhat extreme winter (as in, the amount of snow we would get), up until around 2008-2010 winters would be proper cold and have snow.
In the past 15 years we've had proper snow maybe once or twice, and even that disappears into disgusting slag within a day or two. That is if temperatures drop below 0C in December which doesn't really happen nowadays.
