be lazy, save lives!

Laziness also generally leads to smarter solutions. Motivated people climbed mountains while lazy people were inventing the helicopter.

Helicopters require like 10 hours of maintenance for every flight hour, seems like the lazy solution is just to climb the mountain.

No, you see: The lazy people are going to be the eventual passengers. Piloting and maintenance are going to be handled by the motivated ones.

Idk, I'm pretty lazy, and I've climbed some mountains, but I've never been in a helicopter.

[–] serpineslair@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

That's what a motivated person would say.

There was an anecdote from Steve Jobs about that yeas ago, that he preferred lazy people to work for Apple since they always worked out the best/fastest way to do a problem so they could get back to being lazy.

Sure but he'd have to find the RIGHT kind of lazy people. Some lazy people just lay around and do nothing and come up with no solutions for anything.

I think it was Bill Gates who said that

It's where all the wealthy suicidal people go for their final vacation.

This could have been in a de-motivational poster format. And I'd happily welcome those back.

[–] mech@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago

Maybe those who died were just too lazy to climb back down.

I could make a killing just selling off ideas and inventions if I put the effort to jotting the documentation and making the blueprints. All the while these smart people used trial and error and sometimes accidents to make up their shit.

Just remember anything you type to ChatGPT becomes the property of OpenAI - including your potential inventions, 'they invented them after all.'

A couple of weeks ago I sprained my thumb going for a winter bike ride without proper tires. The old me would've just decayed in front of a computer screen and not gotten hurt, but this new me is way better
