Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Isn't that the exact opposite of what they had been talking about doing?

Edit: also it's not a question of US law, by attempting to "annex" foreign territory you're committing an act of war no matter what your domestic laws say.

I'm starting to think the government might be corrupt!

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We have no government. The US is now run by the Mafia.

I was being sarcastic if you couldn't tell. Politicians are stereotyped as liars because the majority have always been controlled by money and power. They are and have always been mere figureheads.

If I couldn't tell that was sarcastic, then I need to just get off the net now. Permanently.

Regardless, I stand by what I said. They at one time were merely "money and power," but now they've left the veneer of civility behind, and have gone full thuggery - effectively Mafia.

An ally…

America. if taking your democracy, arresting citizens for being brown, excusing ICE executions, siccing military on you, piracy, committing child rape and hiding it and protecting his friends wasn’t enough to make you rise up for good; then please let it be his direct threat to attack a country you have been in an alliance with for many many years.

A country whose soldiers walked in front of yours in Iraq and Afghanistan, because they didn’t think you were equipped to walk in front. The country that let you build a military base on Greenland, even let you store nuclear weapons there… If not this, what will it take for you, to fix the problem your countrymen has made for the world? What will it take?

Simple. It will take pissing off the world until a coalition forms and the US is invaded.

The world is passive these days, and the US smells blood in the water. To them, it is the perfect opportunity to attempt a world conquest, where all countries outside the US are replaced with client states, such as the Confederation of the Rhine.

If I resist, I will die, or be taken prisoner, and then die.

I still have business to attend to before my untimely death. It's too soon.

This is why fascists are winning...

You're quite right. But I don't really care anymore. As long as I die of cardiac arrest before I lose my faculties, then it's all fine. I'm hoping my heart calls it quits in about 20 to 30 years - that matches up with my schedule perfectly.

Yeah, fuck everybody else.

[–] I_Jedi@lemmy.today 0 points 6 days ago

Exactly. There's no guarantee they actually exist.

Traitors in the House.

An invasion of Greenland, which is an overseas territory of Denmark, could trigger a NATO response under Article 5 of the organization's charter.

Welp, time to start digging a bomb shelter. In this mad dash to return to the pre-WWII era of imperialism, it feels like our leaders don’t remember that right after that there was a really nasty world war.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Not how that works, bootlicker

Exactly. It’s not as if Trump would need some form of legal justification in the first place, this is just a massive suck up.
