This timeline split into two when Leon Czolgosz went to Buffalo, NY in 1901 to assassinate William McKinley - one is the timeline that we live in (Timeline A) and one is the timeline where the US become socialist (like in the alternate history story "Reds! A Revolutionary Timeline"). Seriously!

Politics doesn’t ignore you so you must engage with it even if it makes you misanthropic and despondent.
Happiness will never exist, and you should take pride in your misery because it means you’re a good citizen and are paying attention.
