Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Oh now the ‘tHeY gUn GiT yEr GuNz’ asshat cares about gun control? How long till political affiliation counts as reason to revoke gun permits?

[–] whereIsTamara@lemmy.org 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Well, he tried to say being against Trump is a mental disorder, so that qualifies as a gun restriction.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Geez I’d laugh if that wasn’t actually something that may and could happen.

[–] paper_moon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It probably will happen, I'm pretty sure Hitler labeled people against him as having a mental disorder and used that as a further excuse to arrest. Can't find much about it now because anything entered into google even hinting at mental disorder and Hitler or Third Reich comes up with articles questioning Hitler's sanity.

Anyway, Its how they control and dehumanize, just say you're not mentality fit because you're against dear leader.

I too learned that lesson.
Some senator proposed a bill that would make Trump Derangement Syndrome a mental illness - from there it's only a small step to apply it to gun regulation.

From the guy that defended Rittenhouse’s gun as a tool of “self defense.”

But obviously not for registered Republicans.

"Don't Tread On Me" bros warming up, stretching, hydrating, preparing to stoop the lowest they have ever stooped to lick Trump's boots as he ramps up his attacks on the Second Amendment

Best part of this article.

Republicans with the mask off

[–] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Whaaaaaaaat! The guy who said "Take the guns first, go through due process second" is suggesting they take your guns? Its almost like he says what he is going to do before he does it, Im sure absolutely no one saw this coming.

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Hey guys, I think I heard dingo here say he wants the Epstein files released in full. Let's do him that favor. Long overdo.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I appreciate being right every single time I talk to conservatives about the future.

Trump: 'Take the guns first, go through due process second'

Even their most furious topic boils down entirely to projection.

Unfortunately every time I'm right it's because I have no fucking faith in this nation at all.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

From my cold dead hands, you fat fuck!

[–] Asmodeus_Krang@infosec.pub 4 points 1 week ago

Any individual or any party that wants to disarm Americans is an enemy of the American people. A person that trades liberty for security deserves neither. Especially with what we're seeing now you'd have to be mentally defective to support gun control.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now I really wonder how maga will react... This is one of their core beliefs and either cheeto goes full "rules for thee but not for mer" for the white christians, or he might literally find himself without a base at all

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Maga core beliefs go out the window the minute trump says something different. Remember how they were against miltary intervention in foreign countries, especially in the middle east? Well now they're gung-ho for it. They're singing that Barbara Ann/bomnb Iran song on the conservative forums right now. There's a little grumbling from a few of them about trump and minions saying you can't take your guns to protests, but most are already rationalizing it (because it's the 'libtards' getting shot for it). Pretty soon they'll all be cheering on the Big Beautiful Gun Roundup.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago

You'll have to be a registered Republican to own guns. Which wouldn't be all that much of a change, really.

[–] vpol@feddit.uk 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He took your rights. Now he’s going to take your guns. So you couldn’t take your rights back.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Not taking shit from me. I exercise my rights whether they think they allow it or not.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Here go the NRA idiots who thought Trump keeping quiet over the subject meant he gave a shit about their cause. A surprisingly large number of them.

[–] Flying_Lynx@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

from "automatic rifles is ok" to abolishing "this right shall not be infringed".

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago

What a absolutely tiny minded little putz.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What do you expect? People are treating the (white people) streets like they are a god damned kindergarten class. Something has to change!
