Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

It's a shame he'll age out before the guillotines could get built.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 1 points 7 minutes ago

We should have built them faster

[–] tyrant@lemmy.world 2 points 25 minutes ago
[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 1 points 8 minutes ago

Oh God, this year is looking up!

[–] RhondaSandTits@lemmy.sdf.org 25 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

“He is in regular contact with his staff and looks forward to returning to Senate business.”

Just fucking retire, you despicable old cunt.

McConnell, the Senate’s third-oldest member,

WHAT?!? There's 2 senators older than him.

He plans to retire from Congress when his current term concludes in January 2027.

He wont live that long

My theory is somewhere deep inside himself he knows that once he loses access to his power and position, and the obsequious self-assurance it provides, all that's left will be to confront the abject moral abyss that is his soul. So he's just trying to die ignorant and shameless in office.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago

The former Senate majority leader missed crucial Senate votes on Monday and Tuesday, Politico reported.

At least there's that

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 minutes ago

I hope he suffers.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 2 points 37 minutes ago

It's Mitch mcuckas to y'all.

Had he been good like Kevin's mom from home alone, we would all be bawling. But I don't know, I was fine with Kevin's mom passing because she was plenty old. My mom is old but I know her personally so I would cry for a few months on and off.

But mitch DA bi*ch? I think hell is currently preparing a welcome party... Forks cherry red ready for comfortable ass impalement. A nice pfffsssss noise just sizzling and foaming.

But I don't judge. I'm probably going to hell too although I'm just gonna be there randomly moving along. I'm probably only going to be gently emancipated for eternity. Maybe only a little sizzling and acid pickling but not for many thousands of ages. Maybe a few thousand years. It gets easier with friends.

[–] Pistcow@lemmy.world 61 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

finally, some good fucking news.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Oh noes! Not another stroking-out geriatric retainer of the status quo about to need a special election in his district! That can't be good for the powers desperately trying to claw some survival plan out of a burning railcare of dumpsters heading towards a cliff!

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 31 points 2 hours ago (4 children)

To those putting on their dancing shoes... there's no point. He already did all the damage. Short of going back in time nothing will fix what he's done. Unfortunately.

[–] TipRing@lemmy.world 28 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

His death doesn't reverse things, but the world will still be a better place without his presence.

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 hour ago

No argument there. :(

[–] FanciestPants@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

I kinda think the world is better without him welding even the slightest bit of power over any other human, but I'd be okay in that instance with him living another dozen or so years to experience the consequences of his decisions along with the rest of us.

Perhaps with luck, his medical bills will bankrupt him in the same way that he's made it possible for so many others to be bankrupted.

[–] TipRing@lemmy.world 2 points 42 minutes ago

He has free medical care for life.

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 13 points 2 hours ago

I can hope it is a painful death.

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

You act like he cant still do MORE damage

[–] Arghblarg@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 hour ago

Good point. Sigh.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

It's fine, no looking back, lets just cross our fingers, toes and everything else for a special election in his district.

We will never repair even a fraction of the damage done to our country by him and his ilk, but I will still be happy to see him go and have a chance for someone, anyone new having a chance of seizing representation.

We can't just wallow in misery, we have to celebrate good things and even just potential good things or there's no point to life at all.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 38 minutes ago

Death is too good a faster for the people who deserve it the most.

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 80 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Dick Cheney lived 10 years without a heart. I am not celebrating just yet.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 33 points 3 hours ago

Dick was around for more than 10yrs.

I would feel bad for the cancer that got Mitch Mcconnell

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 hour ago

Don’t feel bad for the heroes. Root for them.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Rest in piss you POS. I've lost all compassion for the traitors fucks.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 72 points 3 hours ago

Oh no. I hope it’s something serious.

[–] osanna@thebrainbin.org 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 1 points 27 minutes ago

Some turtles live to be 200.

[–] Cyberflunk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

May his suffering be proportional to that which he's caused. <3

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 21 points 3 hours ago

May he truly understand how awful he was before he bites it.

I hope he has a visceral fear of going to hell because of his actions. The least we can wish for.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

You get back here and die on stage like the joke you are sir

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 40 points 4 hours ago

I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet. Some turtles can easily live for over a hundred years.

As Mitch's closest relative, and power if attorney... (please no questions) It's time we pull the plug. Go ahead. I consent, take him off life support. It's what he would have wanted. Do it. DO IT NOW!

Linger and suffer, you fucking ghoul

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 hours ago
[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 5 points 2 hours ago

let's hope it's nothing trivial

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

We need term limits for Congress, always have. Assuming there's any Congress left in three years.

The minute anyone gets that level of power, they'll do anything to keep it, especially the vulnerable ones.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 15 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I assume he's at the marine biology hospital? Well, I'm sure he'll be coming out of his shell soon - one way or the other.
